After studying to be a veterinarian and traveling extensively, Serge Lalou joined the Films d’ici team in 1987. Founded in 1984, Films d’Ici is one of France’s leading documentary production companies. Its catalogue includes more than 900 titles: documentaries, series, collections, feature-length documentaries, and feature-length fiction films released in cinemas and broadcast on channels and platforms worldwide. Among these titles, Serge Lalou has produced or coproduced VALSE AVEC BASHIR by Ari Folman, CALLE SANTA FE by Carmen Castillo, FUOCCOAMARE e NOTTURNO by Gianfranco Rosi, MICHAEL KOHLAAS by Arnaud des Pallières, ÊTRE ET AVOIR by Nicolas Philibert and more than 400 other films for cinema and television. In 2014, he founded Les Films d’ici Méditerranée in Montpellier to identify, produce, and co-produce talented projects from Occitanie and the Mediterranean. From documentaries to fiction and animation for television, digital, and cinema, these projects now cross borders and resonate internationally. With Les Films Méditerranée, he produced Josep by director Aurel, winner of the 2021 César for Best Animated Film, of the EFA 2021 Best European Animation Film, and selected in Cannes.
