Sottodiciotto Film Festival & Campus, the event dedicated to audiovisual products made by under-18s and to cinema related to the themes of childhood, adolescence and youth, closed its 24th edition, announcing the winners of the different competitive sections:

  • Future Generation Award, reserved for international feature films, was won by the film – French “Àma Gloria” by Marie Amachoukeli, the story of a six-year-old girl in love with her nanny Cléo.
  • Gianni Volpi award for best debut Italian feature film of the year went to Alain Parroni’s “Una sterminata domenica,” which had already returned a winner from Venice for the Orizzonti section. Produced by Fandango and Rai Cinema, the film tells the story of Brenda and Alex, 19-year-olds expecting a child, and growing up.
  • The prize in the That’s Animato! for Kids International Competition, reserved for short films made in the past three years by students from animation schools around the world, was awarded to “Aki,” made by Wanci Hua of the California Institute of the Arts. While the children’s jury chose to award “Head in the Clouds” by Kaylee Tan from Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida.
  • Sotto18Off Award, a section reserved for short films made independently in extracurricular settings by under-18s, the winner is “Locked” by Pesaro-based Leonardo Scaloni and Luca Mancini.
