After the overwhelming success of the Avengers, a new superhero team, a little more ragtag and maybe more lovely for this reason, will be available on Netflix as of August 18. They are called The Defenders and the team includes four unique superheroes: Luke Cage is man with a superhuman strength who fights crime in Harlem; Danny Rand, aka Iron Fist (played by Finn Jones), is a Buddhist billionaire capable of summoning a supernatural power; Daredevil is the blind hero who protects innocents venturing the streets of Hell’s Kitchen at night, and Jessica Jones, who has an exceptional strength, but suffers from a PTSD that she fights with hangovers. They are four lone heroes struggling with their own unsolved trauma, but they will have to join forces in defeating the danger posed by The Hand, a mysterious criminal organization determined to take over New York City. This mixed team will have to face a special villain: Sigourney Weaver, who plays Alexandra, a wealthy powerful woman affected by a terminal disease who will cause a disaster by attempting to bring down the Big Apple and turn its people upside down. However, this very attack against the city will induce Luke Cage and ,especially, Daredevil to break the tie and return to action, ready to team up with the suspicious Jessica Jones and Iron Fist. Produced by Marvel Television, in association with ABC Studios, the miniseries created by Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez consists of eight 50-minute episodes.
