In this scenario, productions spurred by international ambitions have stood out and fostered a single voice, to guarantee the aesthetic and narrative coherence of the visuals brought to the screen. This unique voice – at times the producer, others the director, or the screenwriter – has brought to the attention of the national debate the often-misunderstood theme of the role of showrunner. Who is the author of the latest Italian fiction? This is the question that “Link. Ideas for television” will use as a provocation to investigate how (and if) power relations have changed, in a roundtable attended by commissioners, writers and screenwriters.
