In early May, the TVoD platform Chili tv founded in 2012 has announced a capital injection of 10 million, a business move followed by the entrance of American majors in the capital of the undertaking: Paramount, Viacom and Warner Brosplanned for this summer, and Sony Pictures in December. President of Chili Giorgio Tacchia has stated that some other companies “are considering doing the same”.

With summer coming up, Chili will start an information campaign of six million Euros per year. The new service release aims to add new clients to the current subscribers between Italy, Poland, the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria.

The commitment on foreign markets will increase with a key position for Germany and the U.K. which represent 60% of the European markets. Although the TVoD market is meant to see a reduction in its own proportion compared to the ever-growing SVoD model (Netflix and Amazon), Tacchia is optimistic: “we must consider that Chili represents the first window after cinema. Our contents are available after only 105 days from the first release”.

Even if in 2016 the company has closed its accounts in the red, Chili seems to grow right now with an income of ten million in the first four months of 20017 and we expect to get to 2018 as planned. Acquiring the Cinetrailer app was an advantage (available in Germany, Spain, France, The Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the U.K.). The app is one of the most used by customers to choose what film to watch at the cinema and it provides important information to get to the final client in the best targeted way.
