Ten projects have been supported through the second edition of Social Film Production con il Sud, a call for proposals promoted by Apulia Film Commission and Fondazione con il Sud with a total budget of 400,000 euros.

The selection was made from over 160 proposals from 150 production companies and 350 third sector organisations from the South. The projects belong to as many categories: “Environment”, “Culture”, “Legality”, “Territory”, “Rights”, “New Generations”, “Women’s Thought”, “Active Citizenship”, “Beyond Commonplaces” and “Covid Emergency” and will tell the story of Southern Italy through its social phenomena.

The call for proposals provides funding for audiovisual works in the “Short” category, short fiction films of between 5 and 20 minutes in length, and “Doc”, creative documentaries of between 20 and 52 minutes in length. The production, to be made in whole or in part in Apulia, must be integrated and supervised by the subjects of the Third Sector, by activities of valorisation and promotion of the social theme addressed, both in the phase of conception and realisation, and in the phase of promotion and dissemination of the audiovisual product. These activities may be carried out in one or more of the southern regions in which the Fondazione Con il Sud operates.

The initiative is realised by Fondazione CON IL SUD and Apulia Film Commission, financed by Regione Puglia – Assessorato Industria Turistica e Culturale, in the framework of the strategic plan “Custodiamo la Cultura in Puglia” based on FSC Puglia 2014-2020 resources – Patto per la Puglia and Fondazione CON IL SUD’s own resources.
