In the world of games comes news of significant movements. Alain Tascan, former executive vice-president of game development at Epic Games, the US company known for making the Unreal series, Gears of War and Fortnite, is the new president of Netflix Games: a service for gamers launched in 2021, integrated into the platform’s subscription. With an initial catalogue of only five titles, Netflix Games has expanded its offering to over 100 games and as many are currently in development.

Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, said that the company has now matured in its approach to the video games business: ‘We’ve launched over 100 games so far. We’ve seen what works and what doesn’t. We are refining our programme to do more of what works with the 80-plus games we currently have in development’. With respect to the new acquisition, Peters reiterates that Alain will bring over 30 years of experience in global game development, production, licensing and studio building. He reiterates, “He has a passion for creating great games and a proven record of taking bold creative gamble. We are thrilled to have him at the helm of Netflix Games.”

This appointment comes shortly after Mike Verdu’s appointment as Vice President of Games, who will take on a new, unspecified role within the company focused on innovation in game development.
