The eighty-first edition of the Venice International Film Festival ended on Saturday 7 September 2024 with the customary awards ceremony.
The Golden Lion for Best Film was awarded to The Room Next Door, the latest film by Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar, produced by El Deseo, Movistar Plus+ and Washington Square Films, while the Silver Lion for Best Director went to Brady Corbet for The Brutalist, produced by Brookstreet Pictures, Kaplan Morrison and Andrew Lauren Pictures in association with Intake Films, Proton Cinema, Carte Blanche, Lip Sync, Meyohas Studios and Richmond Pictures
The Coppa Volpi for Best Actress went to Nicole Kidman for her performance in Halina Reijn’s Babygirl, produced by 2AM, A24 and Man Up Film, while Vincent Lindon won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor for Delphine and Muriel Coulin’s The Quiet Son, produced by Curiosa Film and Felicita Films in co-production with France 3 Cinéma and Umedia and with the participation of Canal+ and France Télévision.
