From 10:00 AM on December 13, 2024, until 11:59 PM on January 31, 2025, applications for the 2024 Video Games Tax Credit can be submitted through the DGCOL platform, accessible via the General Directorate for Cinema and Audiovisual’s official portal. This initiative is reserved for producers of video games with Italian nationality and allocates a budget of €12 million for this session.
Before submitting an application, producers must:
– Register on the DGCOL platform as a “Legal Entity”;
– Register the applicant’s details in the platform’s system;
– Register the project as a “Video Game Content Work” through the “Create a new application” section (code DOM – AOVG);
– Apply for Provisional Italian Nationality for the project, as per DPCM July 11, 2017, and subsequent amendments.
The Provisional Italian Nationality request must be submitted before the start of the video game’s development. Once
the project is completed, producers will need to apply for Definitive Italian Nationality.
To assist applicants, the “Useful Materials” section on the DGCOL platform provides practical manuals, including:
– The welcome guide;
– Instructions for filling in the applicant’s profile and registering the project;
– Guidelines for requesting Italian nationality and applying for the tax credit.
– Through this initiative, the Ministry of Culture aims to support the growth of the Italian video game industry and encourage the development of high-quality projects.
