ScriptLab, the program funded by Torino Film Lab, Creative Europe – Subprogramme MEDIA, in collaboration with Veneto Film Commission, Film School Carlo Mazzacurati, German Films and with VAF – Flanders Audiovisual Fund, is looking for screenwriters and directors, individually or in group, both experienced filmmakers or amateurs from all over the world, interested in taking part in the new 2023 edition.

ScriptLab is aimed at fiction feature films, both adaptations and original ideas, in their early stages of development.

20 will be the chosen projects and, during the following 9 months, these projects will need to be developed by 5 teams, each guided by a tutor with wide experience as a script consultant, and to which also a story editor trainee will be added. One of the five groups will devote itself on feature film comedy projects, in a wide definition of that genre.

The program is divided in 3 residential modules, plus 2 online modules.

Over the year the participants will have the chance to enrich themselves not only through peer-to-peer collaboration with the other filmmakers in their group but, also, through the 1:1 sessions with their tutors.

Moreover, ScriptLab will also offer Master Classes where the participants will discuss with industry professionals the role of creative producers in a project early development, how production and distribution have evolved recently as well as how the industry is changing to adapt to climate-conscious strategies and storytelling in all its nuances.

At last, a final presentation of the projects will be held in front of an audience of international producers, sales agents and other film industry professionals during the TFL Meeting Event in November 2023. In addition, some prizes will be awarded, thanks to the TFL partners, and participants will have the opportunity to have one-to-one meetings with Decision Makers.

Deadline: November 7.
