Rome Film Fest, still underway at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, will close on Oct. 27 with a highly anticipated event, the presentation of Johnny Depp’s film “Modi,” scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26.
The film is a biopic about the artist Amedeo Modigliani, a.k.a. “Modi,” who, by now discouraged, would like to end his career and leave town, but is held back by his bohemian friends: the French artist Maurice Utrillo, the Belarusian Chaim Soutine, his muse, Beatrice Hastings, and his friend Leopold Zborowski, a Polish art dealer. The turning point comes when he is confronted by a collector who could change his life.
The project is based on Modigliani, a play by Dennis McIntyre. The screenplay is by Jerzy and Mary Kromolowski. After the world premiere held at the San Sebastian Film Festival a month ago, Modì will arrive festivals by passing through another stage: the Capri Cult Award 2024, a coveted prize given annually by the Capri Institute in the World ahead of the Capri Hollywood festival. The award will be presented at the Roma Fall Gala (Friday, October 25 at the Studios – Ex De Paolis).
