For the first time ever, a Pope will set foot in the legendary Cinecittà studios. On Monday, February 17, as part of the Jubilee of Artists and the World of Culture, Pope Francis will meet with a delegation of entertainment industry professionals at the iconic Roman film complex. Hosting this historic visit, initiated by Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni, will be Cinecittà President Chiara Sbarigia and CEO Manuela Cacciamani.

Francis will tour the cinematic city that has welcomed masters such as Fellini, Leone, De Sica, and Scorsese. This is not the first time a Pope has engaged with the world of film: in 1987, John Paul II traveled to Los Angeles, the heart of Hollywood, for a meeting with key figures in the film industry.

The Jubilee of Artists, organized by the Dicastery for Culture and Education, features a rich program of events from February 15 to 18, including a Jubilee Audience in St. Peter’s Square, international meetings at the Vatican Museums, and the inauguration of cultural exhibitions.

The Pope’s visit to Cinecittà marks a historic moment of dialogue between the Church and the world of art and entertainment. “The presence of the Holy Father is a source of deep pride for us,” said Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni. “His connection to cinema is well known, as is the value he places on the visual arts. His visit to Cinecittà is an important acknowledgment of the entertainment and cultural industries.”
