The Film Commission Torino Piemonte has opened the calls for the 2019 Piedmont Doc Film Fund and the Short Film Fund. Total available funds amount to 200 thousand Euros. In order to participate, applications will need to be sent by June 17th, 2019.

The Piedmont Doc Film Fund (PDFF), established in 2007, aims at funding documentaries not only for its cultural value, but also for its strategic importance in the industry. The PDFF’s goal is to make documentary contents more and more professional and international in nature in the city of Turin and in Piedmont. Moreover, it wants to foster co-productions between locally-based subject and external realities, both national and international. The Piedmont Doc Film Fund favours “the structures of the Piedmont region for projects, even external to the region, which are particularly relevant on the social, cultural, and artistic field, as well as the industrial and professional one. In addition to this, it sustains national and international productions if projects have to deal with the city of Turin and with the Piedmont, or are particularly relevant for the regional territory on the social, cultural and artistic field (120% of fundings must be spent in Turin and/or in Piedmont, with non-Italian producers obliged to identify a productive structure in Piedmont as an executive producer or co-producer).

For this call, the Piedmont Doc Film Fund puts 180 thousand Euros at disposal.

The Short Doc Film Fund, on the other hand, favours the production (shooting / post-production in Piedmont) of fiction, animated, and experimental short films (documentaries are not included). In order to be admitted, short movies have to have the following features: “not longer than 30’; realised partly or totally in Piedmont, with a significant contribution from local service and post-production structures; cinematic style and destination not destined to a sectorial audience, via national and international markets, independent circuits and festivals; well-defined promotion strategy both online and offline, foreseeing actions such as subtitling, preparing promotion materials, participating to festivals, and defining of international distribution deals”.

For this call, the Short Doc Film Fund puts 20 thousand Euros at disposal.
