Netflix sets up a $100 mln fund to help workers in the most affected film and television productions, due to Covid-19 emergency.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, shared the news through the company official website, focusing on Netflix’s due support to the creative community that allowed the giant to reach its productive dimensions.

Netflix’s assistance is mainly allocating to interrupted productions: hundreds of workers – including cast and crew – have suffered the most serious consequences of the productions suspension forced by Covid-19. The fund will be distributed in order to allocate the majority to the weaker categories (in addition to the normal wages for workers involved in suspended production); 15% will instead be distributed to third-parties and non-profit organizations in the countries where Netflix regularly produces creative contents, for their support to workers and crews.

One million each to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Covid-19 Disaster Fund, the Motion Picture and Television Fund and the Actor Fund Emergency Assistance; in addition, one more million between the AFC and the Fondation des Artistes.

Additional relief and collaboration interventions for the recovery of the creative and cinematographic industry will be announced in detail from next week on.
