A new call has been published for NAS – New Animation in Sardegna, a project created to improve professional training of new animators and, subsequently, boost the creation of new innovative productions.

The project is not restricted to 2D animation but includes also 3D animation, fundamental to create professional figures who could work both in the film and TV industry as well as in videogames and VFX.

Furthermore, NAS develops over 6 months, the first 3 months consisting of free lectures, entirely in English, the following three months consisting of curricular internships, educational workshops and animated projects made in Sardinia.

The course, open to a maximum of 15 participants and which will take place in Cagliari, even though the aim is to extend its scope to the whole island, will be held by different lecturers, among them some collaborators from the Canadian company Toon Boom, publisher of the software currently in use by Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks, Nickelodeon, Sony and many others.

Beside Toon Boom this project can count on its close collaboration with Cartoon Italia and Rai Kids and also, obviously, on the Sardinia Region support, which has started NAS back in 2019.

Upon completion of the course the 15 participants will obtain the “Working Knowledge of the Toon Boom Harmony Premium and Storyboard Pro” international professional certification which, as mentioned before, will be of value not only in the film industry but, also, in videogames, marketing, communication as well as in museum exhibits and scientific research.

NAS focus is on creating content for children and young adults, respecting sustainability and reaching social inclusion in the audiovisual industry.

Riccardo Atzeni, Chiara Lamieri, Barbara Pirisi and Alessandra Manca, all animators and leaders of this project, during their presentation of NAS, said: “As of today we have already trained, with this international certification, 88 young artists and illustrators, of which 50 are women, of age between 24 and 30”.

The call is open to anyone who, upon its deadline, is in possession of a high school diploma and who is able to self-certify a minimum of B2 Level of English, as well as, in case of a qualification obtained abroad, to provide and equivalency certification.

Deadline: November 18, 06.00 pm.
