MIA has opened the call for projects for its fourth edition, which will take place in Rome from October 17 to 21st, 2018. Over the years, most of the projects presented at MIA have later taken off for success, being completed, distributed and well received by the audience, the industry and the festival circuit worldwide.

Established as a benchmark for the European and International players, the Cinema Co-Production Market has successfully led more than 50% of its selected projects to their completion. Among them:

The Girl in the Fog by Donato Carrisi, released in 2017, won the category of Best Debut Director at the David di Donatello 2018, doing very well at the box office and ranking at the third position in its day of release, right behind two international productions.

Sally Potter’s The Party, released last year, participated in the 67th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival, being awarded with the important Guild Film Prize.

Mobile homes by Vladimir De Fontenay participated in the Cannes 2017 Quinzaine des Réalisateurs as well as many other film festivals worldwide.

Pure Hearts by Roberto De Paolis, competing for the Caméra d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2017 where it was applauded with a 7 minutes standing ovation.

After just two editions of the Drama Series Pitching Forum, the event has already successfully launched many projects, which have been greenlit and are now in production.

Among them, The Eternal City presented in 2016 and produced by Aurora TV, Fearless Mind and Banijay Studios France, will be one of the first projects to be developed under the rubric of an alliance between European public broadcasters France Télévisions, Rai and ZDF.

Don’t Leave Me presented in 2017 edition by the Italian production company Paypermoon has been picked up by Federation Entertainment to be developed into a TV Series. The project is an Italian thriller series written by Leonardo Fasoli and Maddalena Ravagli, the couple behind Gomorra, and Gideon Yago (Narcos, The Newsroom).

The Italian producer Pepito Produzioni is set to co-produce together with the Ukrainian media company FILM.UA Group a feature film based on the project of the series presented last year at the Drama Series Pitching Forum: Koza Nostra. The series will initially be developed in a film, with the possibility of returning as a TV series.

Global content company Kew Media Group has acquired a stake in Jeff Norton’s U.K.-based Awesome Media & Entertainment. First original project in the works is the TV series Woodland, about the search for the missing grandson of a Tolkien-like literary icon, presented last year at the Drama Series Pitching Forum.

Further details will be announced during MIA 2018 and new projects greenlit will be unveiled.
