The panel “Developing Original Films for Local Audiences with the Streaming Services” took place on the second day of MIA 2020.

The event was moderated by Nick Vivarelli, journalist for Variety, and was attended by Teresa Moneo, DIrector, International Original films, Netflix, who talked about developments in the local film market with respect to streaming services with some of the major Italian producers.

Among them Stefano Massenzi, Head of Acquisitions and Business Affairs for Lucky Red: with respect to the collaboration with Netflix, he emphasized that “We already worked with Netflix and it has been proficient. We keep on moving in that direction, trying to create exciting movies with a strong appeal”.

Also on Netflix will be released the latest film by Sidney Sibilia, The Incredible History of Rose Island. Matteo Rovere, co-founder of Groenlandia with Sibilia, praised the organizational structure of Netflix, which can boast a large workforce for each stage of the production process.

“We believe that stories can travel anywhere,” said Teresa Moneo, “we are looking for stories that are unique and of global interest.
