Lazio Region has announced a new call for Lazio Cinema International Fund aimed to attract international film and audiovisual productions. It will be possible to submit applications from May 30th.

The call aims to support investments in film and audiovisual co-productions involving the participation of the Lazio Region’s film industry with the international film industry, an international distribution of works and the international visibility of Lazio Region’s territory. Applications can be submitted from midday, May 30th to midday, 31st July through GeCoWEB platform.

The budget for the financing of productions under this call is 10 million euros: 5 million euros for cinema’s movies and 5 million euros for audiovisual works. 50% of the budget is destined to co-productions of “regional interest”, while the remaining 50% will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. SMEs that are independent producers and operate in the sector of “activities of film, video and television programs production” are eligible for the application. In order to be eligible, SMEs must be resident for tax purposes in Italy and have an operational office in Lazio.

Lazio Cinema International Fund, launched three years ago, contributes to make Lazio Region the first Italian region for investments in the film and audiovisual sector. Last year Lazio Cinema International Fund contributed to the production of the TV series Medici, Maltese and The Name of the Rose. “The importance of this initiative for the co-production of TV series is evident – Chiara Sbarigia, Director general of APA (Associations of Audiovisual Producers) has declared – this is a good period for the Italian audiovisual production and international production companies often come shooting in Italy”.
