Collaboration between Italian and Japanese cinema is strengthened thanks to a film co-production agreement signed by the minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano together with the minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Yoshimasa Hayashi, at the headquarters of the Italian Embassy in Tokyo.
A strategic partnership, which will offer “a great development opportunity for the national film industry, whose excellence is also well known here in Japan,” the minister said.
“The Italian Ministry of Culture, ANICA and industry operators are already working to organize a qualified Italian participation in the upcoming Tokyo International Film Festival, where we will reap the first fruits of the agreement,” Sangiuliano added regarding internationalization.
Undersecretary Lucia Borgonzoni, who has been working on this result since spring 2019, commented on the news as “an important milestone that will open up new horizons of growth for Italian companies in the sector – but not only – and its excellent professionals.”
