Hulu, the streaming platform founded in 2007 by Beth Comstock and Jason Kilar (still not available in Italy) has acquired Scandinavian thrillers Below the Surface and Midnight Sun form international distributor Studiocanal.

Midnight Sun (pictured), created by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein (winner of Roma Fiction Fest 2016), it’s a thriller set in a small village in northern Sweden, where a series of mysterious murderers linked to the Sami community will involve a Swedish policeman and a French special agent woman. The creative team is the same of Bron, original version of FX’s The Bridge. It’s produced by Atlantique Productions, the run-firm of Jimmy Desmarais and Oliver Bibas, and by Nice Drama.

Below the Surface is produced by Søren Sveistrup and Adam Price’s SAM Productions. The eight-part drama tells the story of 15 people hostages of a terrorist group, imprisoned in Compenaghen’s subway.

Hulu, available only in the US and in Japan, doubled its roster of foreign-language dramas: beyond Midnight Sun and Below the Surface, the platform has already acquired Spanish Grand Hotel, Swedish Wallander and Israeli Prisoners of War, original version of US’s Homeland.
