FAPAV continues the battle against audiovisual piracy. The first fines for the illegal use of audiovisual content for a total volume of over one million euros have arrived.

The Nucleo di Polizia Economica-Finanziaria of the Guardia di Finanza of Venice, with the technical assistance of FAPAV, conducted an operation that led to sanction, for a total value of 500.000 euros, the network of resellers of illicit IPTV.

The investigation involved 72 people and 2 retailers, leading to the shutdown of a site that instructed on how to commit acts of piracy in favor of an illicit traffic of 65.000 subscriptions for access to TV channels and online platforms.

As reported in the press release of FAPAV, the General Secretary Federico Bagnoli Rossi said: “The operation IPTV Special, which led in recent days to sanction 49 resellers of subscriptions to illicit IPTV (reseller), highlights how the phenomenon of digital piracy is changing. As FAPAV, together with the Police Forces, we are relentlessly committed to fight this illegal phenomenon, which strongly damages the audiovisual industry, the economy and the employment of our country, also putting at risk the security and privacy of users who are convinced by the tempting offers of resellers. At a time like the present, it is essential to restart from legality and for this reason, alongside the actions of contrast, it is necessary to continue a synergic work between the Guardia di Finanza, the Postal Police and competent Institutions, in order to protect an industrial sector that has always been considered a model in Italy and abroad”.
