Tarak Ben Ammar, CEO of Eagle Pictures, has announced in an interview with la Repubblica that, in a few months, the Italian distribution company will become the sole distributor of Sony movies in Italy.

This deal expands on their previous agreement, which concerned the distribution of Sony titles on home entertainment platforms and, in addition, will cause a further imbalance in favor of Eagle Pictures, which is already the 4th distributor in Italy by revenues.

Tarak Ben Ammar said: “This agreement with Sony represents a huge milestone towards the consolidation of the company among all the major players in this field like Disney, Universal and Warner Bros Italia“.

This deal, in fact, will also simplify worldwide distribution of Italian Eagle Pictures movies like Dampyr by Riccardo Chemello.
Furthermore, Ammar added: “We will produce 5 Italian and European movies together that, thanks to Sony widespread presence abroad, will be easily distributed worldwide.” As of today the two companies have already two international active film productions, Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile, now in cinemas, which is also obtaining a discreet success, and Equilizer 3, still in production.
