The Asian division of Walt Disney Company has signed an agreement with South Korean entertainment and lifestyle platform HYBE, through which a selection of the latter’s music programs will be launched on Disney’s streaming services in the coming years.

The first five programs will expand content on Disney platforms globally, including Disney+. Two of these programs feature the successful South Korean pop group BTS. The first is the 4K concert film BTS: Permission to Dance on Stage – LA, which features the group’s 2021 concert at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles.

The second, BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star, is a docuseries following the band’s journey over the past nine years, with music and footage covering the daily lives, thoughts and projects of the members.

A third program included in the deal is the travel reality show In the Soop: Friendcation, which follows five celebrity friends as they venture on a surprise trip.

Jessica Kam-Engle, chief content officer of The Walt Disney Company APAC, said, “This collaboration represents our creative ambition to work with iconic content creators and top stars in the Asia-Pacific region so that their talents can be appreciated by mainstream audiences in multiple ways. We believe these new titles will captivate consumers around the world, and we look forward to introducing more music content on our service.”
