The Puglia Region renews its commitment to the film and audiovisual sector. The Regional Council has approved a €5.45 million allocation for the new edition of the Apulia Film Fund 2026. The scheme funds film and audiovisual productions carried out in the Puglia region.
The measure falls under the Cohesion Agreement of the Puglia Region – Rotation Fund 2021-2027. Of the total funding, €5 million supports the 2026 Apulia Film Fund call, while the remaining €450,000 covers technical assistance, entrusted to the Apulia Film Commission Foundation. The Foundation will act as the Intermediate Body, managing the entire scheme on behalf of the Region.
The initiative aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the regional audiovisual supply chain. It also seeks to attract new production investment to Puglia. A third goal focuses on promoting the region’s cultural and landscape heritage, a key factor in drawing national and international productions.
Results from previous editions justify the renewed funding. Between 2024 and 2025, the Apulia Film Fund channeled over €18 million into the sector, supporting 66 productions in 2024 and receiving 93 applications in 2025. Funded and shortlisted productions generated an estimated direct spend of more than €48 million. Total economic impact exceeded €96 million, with roughly 1,380 shooting days across the region. These figures make the Apulia Film Fund a notable case study for anyone operating in the cultural and creative industries.
Silvia Miglietta, Puglia’s Councillor for Culture and Knowledge, highlights the sector’s economic and social value. Every production that chooses Puglia engages local businesses and crews, generating direct development on the ground. At the same time, the Region is calling for a stronger commitment to workforce training and contractual protections for professionals. According to Miglietta, growth in Puglia’s audiovisual sector depends first and foremost on stable, skilled employment.
For production companies, technical service providers, and operators across the audiovisual supply chain, the Apulia Film Fund 2026 represents a concrete funding opportunity. The call confirms Puglia’s position as a strategic territory for film and television investment in Italy.
