Asacha Media Group (AMG), multinational IP creation and production business, acquires Srab Films, Paris-based French production company founded in 2015 by Toufik Ayadi and Christophe Barral. Srab, among others, has realised Les Misérables by Ladj Ly, winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, and Banlieusards by Kery James and Leïla Sy for Netflix.

On the other hand, AMG, headquartered in Paris, was founded in 2020 by former Endemol Shine exec Marina Williams, ex-Banijay exec Gaspard de Chavagnac and former Zodiak Media CEO Marc-Antoine d’Halluin. It predominantly serves the international demand for scripted content from TV networks and streaming platforms aiming to become a European leader in content creation and production.

AMG is continuing its expansion across Europe with a turnover for more than €230m and has grown to own seven production companies around Europe, including Italian production houses Picomedia and Stand by Me, the first to be acquired, and French poduction houses Mintee Studio.

Based on the deal, Ayadi and Barral will become shareholders of AMG and Srab Films seeks to work with more national and international broadcasters elsewhere in Europe. Indeed, according to AMG, coproductions between Srab and and other AMG-owned production companies are already planned.

The financial details of the deal were not disclosed, but it is known that, earlier this year, AMG secured €41m to put towards its international expansion.

Asacha’s founders states that the acquisition enables their company to reinforce talents pool by accessing a new generation of top audiovisual talents. Barral and Ayadi say that they are excited as well for this new deal and they hope it will give them the chance to “achieve many great challenges while staying true to our beliefs and core values.”
