The audiovisual sector is ready to start again, after resolving the insurance guarantees’ issue for film and tv productions.
The issue of insurance coverage was, in part, handled during the hearing of the Senate Industry, Trade and Tourism Standing Committee about the initiatives to support sectors in crisis: on this occasion, the Anica President Francesco Rutelli and the APA president Giancarlo Leone in fact underlined the urgency to have insurance guarantees from the government for the restart of audiovisual productions.
Still on the matter, Rutelli then added during a statement to La Stampa: «Insurance is a particular aspect, productions have always had them, for any type of eventuality, but, in this particular situation, they have not yet been given the Covid risk guarantees. […] We are all faced with an unprecedented condition, but, over the next three or four days, a solution must be found.”
APA president Giancarlo Leone also spoke at the hearing and reiterated the requests for three conditions for the reopening of the sets, previously highlighted: the opening of an extraordinary tax credit by Mibact for 2020 productions, the safety measure on the set and, in fact, the possibility to establish a public insurance fund for productions damaged by the Covid-19 emergency.
