The 49th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival opened yesterday, 5 September 2024. The festival features a packed programme of screenings and meetings in various venues in the Canadian metropolis, and will close on 15 September 2024.

A large number of titles will be presented at this 49th edition: among the premieres are Eden, the latest thriller directed by Ron Howard and starring Jude Law, produced by AGC Studios and Imagine Entertainment, Nightbitch by Marielle Heller starring Amy Adams, produced by Annapurna Pictures, Bond Group Entertainment, Defiant By Nature and Searchlight Pictures and Without Blood, directed by Angelina Jolie and based on the novel Senza sangue by Alessandro Baricco produced by De Maio Entertainment, Fremantle, Jolie Productions and The Apartment.

In addition to these titles, there are several music documentaries, including Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which follows the long preparation of The Boss’s world tour, Andrea Bocelli: Because I Believe, based on the life of the famous Italian tenor, written and directed by Cosima Spender, a former guest at MIA 2021, and produced by Entertainment One, and Elton John: Never Too Late, directed by R.J. Cutler and produced by Disney Original Documentary, Disney+, Rocket Pictures and This Machine.

R.J. Cutler participated in MIA 2021 as a guest on a panel entitled Dispatches from the Golden Age.
