The Stuff of Dreams by Gianfranco Cabiddu ((Paco Cinematografica, Rai Cinema, with the contribution of MiBACT, White Pictures, in association with Videoprogetti, with the support of Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission, screened at MIA 2015) has landed in the United States, where it will cross the country from Washington to New York, screened at cinema festivals such as the Washington Dc Film Fest, which gathers the best foreign movies every year.
The film, awarded the David di Donatello for the best screenplay, has conquered the American public: filmed entirely on the Asinara island, it tells the story of a wreck ship which strands on the island a mix group of people: a traveling theatre troupe and a gang of criminals together with the guards who were escorting them. Inspired to Shakespeare’s The Tempest and to Eduardo De Filippo’s Arte della Commedia, the film celebrates Italian and Sardinian culture and this match seems to have convinced the American audience who, according to Cabiddu ” loves and is curious about our history”. Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in Washington, Emanuele Amendola said he was “proud of presenting this film, an important component of our culture”.
