The Cannes Film Festival, historically scheduled in May, that had been cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic, will return as 2020 Special Cannes.

Thierry Frémaux, the general delegate of the Festival, had always pushed to ensure alternative solutions to the cancellation of the festival, and one of these has been successful.

The historic kermesse will thus reopen for 3 days, from 27 to 29 October, with an exceptional edition in the presence of the Palais de Festivals et des Congrès.

On the program, in addition to the competition of short films and the films of the Cinéfondation dedicated to the projects of film schools, four films from the official selection:

  • The Big Hit by Emmanuel Courcol, the opening film produced, among others, by Agat Film & Cie, Les Productions du Ch’timi and Canal+;
  • Comes Morning by Naomi Kawase, produced by Kazumo, Kino Films, Kinoshita Group and Kumie;
  • Beginning by Déa Kulumbegashvili, produced by First Picture and OFA;
  • French Tech by Bruno Podalydès, closing film produced by Why Not Productions and Arte France Cinéma.
