The Italian Pavilion, the space that welcomes professionals from the audiovisual industry to the main international festivals and markets, will be back from 28 August to 6 September 2024, as part of the 81st Venice International Film Festival, organised and promoted by Cinecittà and the Directorate General for Cinema and Audiovisual of the Italian Ministry of Culture DGCA.
What’s new this year is that it is doubling its space: at the Hotel Excelsior on the Venice Lido, the Italian Pavilion will occupy Tropicana Room 1 and 2 for the benefit of an even richer programme of meetings, events and presentations, starting with the one with the Ministry of Culture on the data of the Cinema Revolution initiative and the Numbers of Italian Cinema 2023, the meetings on Tax Credit and the debate on creativity and Artificial Intelligence.
There will also be conferences and business meetings with the aim of taking an in-depth look at trends in the sector from an international perspective, such as the panel ‘Euro-Mediterranean Cinema Partnerships and their Dynamics’ (30 August) to explore collaborations and initiatives between the various European countries in the Mediterranean area, and the session ‘There’s more than One Way to Finance an Independent Film’ (1 September), dedicated to the methods, strategies and challenges of financing independent films.
The cultural note of the event will be given by the Archivio Luce Cinecittà in collaboration with the MiC, which will present two new cultural projects: the ‘Divas and Godmothers’ Exhibition (2 September) and the first edition of the Gina Lollobrigida Award.
