The Italian Cinema Week in South Africa, which takes place from August 29 to September the 4th, is a Film festival organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria in collaboration with Cinecittà, The Italian Embassy in Pretoria, the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg and the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town.

This represents a chance for Italy to expand the reach of its Cinematographic industry in what is not only the most influential country of the African continent at the moment, but also the one with the biggest Italian community.

The event is going to take place online, at least for this edition, and the tickets are available, free of charge, on the official website of the Italian Cultural Institute in Pretoria, in collaboration with Mymovies.

The movies selected for the festival are, A Chiara di Jonas Carpignano, America Latina by Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo, Lasciarsi un giorno a Roma (Breaking Up in Rome) by Edoardo Leo, Californie by Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman, Il legionario (The Legionnaire) by Hleb Papou, Non odiare (Thou Shalt Not hate) by Mauro Mancini and I predatori (The Predators) by Pietro Castellitto.

Peter Rorvirk, former director of the Durban International Film Festival and now co-director of the European Film Festival South Africa, will both host and be the face of The Italian Cinema Week in South Africa.
