The first edition of the Doc/it Women Award, the prize organised by Doc/it – Associazione Documentaristi Italiani in collaboration with Women in Film, Television & Media Italia (WIFTMI) and with the support of the Roma Lazio Film Commission, is about to kick off. The award is reserved for Italian female producers who have a documentary film, audiovisual project or a documentary series in advanced development.

The qualified female presence in the production sector starting from development, together with support for those projects with an innovative approach, are the objectives of this first edition of the award. Thus, gender inclusion, creative and entrepreneurial innovation, eco-sustainable production processes and access to the production of new talents remain the founding values of the award, which, on the occasion of the publication of the call for entries, also announces its adherence to the Charter of Ethical Conduct for the audiovisual sector for the protection of the dignity of the individual and of workers.

The projects will be assessed by a jury selected by Doc/it and WIFTMI (the non-profit trade association that arrived in Italy in 2018) and the winner will be awarded on 5 September 2023 during the event promoted by Doc/it entitled: “Research, development and the centrality of Italian female producers”, with a sum of €4,000 at the Spazio Incontri, on the third floor of the Hotel Excelsior, as part of the Venice Production Bridge, during the Venice Film Festival.

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on 17 August 2023, in digital format, by filling in the form on the Doc/it website, where the call for entries can be consulted.
