As reported by Digital TV Research, SVOD revenues in 138 countries will reach $100 billion by 2025, doubling the $50 billion recorded in 2019.

The United States will remain the leader in SVOD revenue, adding nearly $18 billion between 2019 and 2025, reaching $42 billion. However, the share of global SVOD revenues will drop from 49% in 2019 to 42% in 2025.

The number of subscriptions is expected to increase by 529 million between 2019 and 2025, reaching to 1,17 billion. China and the United States will together account for 51% of the global total by 2025.

Netflix, Disney + and Amazon Prime Video will jointly control half of the world’s SVOD subscriptions by 2025. Disney + will add 142 million subscribers between 2019 and 2025 reaching 172 million. Netflix will add 91 million subscribers for a total of 263 million.

By 2025, one-third of the world’s television households will have at least one SVOD subscription, compared to one quarter at the end of 2019.
