Disney+, as happened a few months ago with Netflix, is also about to launch a subscription plan with advertising in Italy, raising the prices of other subscriptions. As of November 1, 2023, in fact, in Italy, the UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Sweden and Denmark, it will be possible to choose between Standard and Premium subscriptions and Standard with advertising.

“The introduction of the plan with advertising marks the next evolution of Disney+ in Italy as we offer more choice to our customers and our global advertising partners. Disney+ continues to stand out in today’s streaming landscape by offering unparalleled value, exclusive TV series and blockbuster movies within a simple, borderless experience,” said President of The Walt Disney Company EMEA Jan Koeppen.

Disney CEO Bob Iger also emphasised that the increases are necessary in order to steer consumers towards the cheaper versions, whose prices remain unchanged, supported by advertising.

While the last quarterly figures reported a 3.8% increase in revenue, the changes also affect password sharing. Disney, in fact, will also in this case follow in the footsteps of Netflix and put a brake on password sharing among users.
