Miyuki Fukuma is a producer and founding member of the Tokyo-based production company BUNBUKU, led by director Hirokazu Kore-eda. She came to film from a background in comparative culture, art history, and arts management, after studying in Tokyo and Geneva. Over the past decade, alongside her work in Japanese cinema, she has built a body of international co-productions with a range of distinctive directors.

Her producing credits include Kore-eda’s Broker (2022 / South Korea), winner of both the Best Actor Award and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival; The Truth (2019 / France-Japan), starring Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche, selected in Competition at the Venice International Film Festival; and A Pale View of Hills (2025 / Japan-UK-Poland), Kei Ishikawa’s adaptation of Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel, selected for Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival. Further credits include Ten Years Japan (2018), an omnibus by five emerging Japanese directors, and Kore-eda’s Netflix series Asura (2025).

She bridges creative vision with strategic execution to build international financing and partnerships, gravitating toward stories that explore the multi-layered identities of individuals and bring diverse voices to global audiences. She also supports the next generation as a mentor in Japan and abroad.
