María Zamora is a film producer. Founding partner of Avalon PC, in 2021 she created Elastica Films with Enrique Costa, also a partner and distributor of Avalon DA. In the last 20 years, María has produced several debut films such as Mapa by León Siminiani, Summer 1993 by Carla Simón and Libertad by Clara Roquet. Her first productions with Elastica include Alcarràs by Carla Simón (Golden Bear 2022), Álvaro Gago’s first feature film Matria (Berlinale Panorama, 2023) and, more recently, Creatura by Elena Martín (Europa Cinemas Award for Best European Film at Directors’ Fortnight 2023) and The Rye Horn by Jaione Camborda (TIFF 2023, Golden Shell at San Sebastian International Film Festival 2023). She is currently working on Paula Ortiz’s next film with Amazon Studios, Marta Nieto’s debut feature and the upcoming films by Mar Coll and Carla Simón. In addition to her usual attendance at festivals and markets with her own projects, María Zamora has attended several international festivals as a jury member. She participated in Cannes Critics’ Week in 2022 and was president in 2021 of the Horizontes Latinos section at San Sebastian International Film Festival, among others.
