Kelly Luegenbiehl

Founder, Producer

Shorties Studios

From pioneering Netflix’s international expansion to founding Shorties Studios, Kelly Luegenbiehl has consistently been at the forefront of entertainment innovation. Launched in December 2025, her global production company spans L.A., London, and Istanbul. Shorties Studios makes vertical originals for subscription streaming and social media platforms, along with ad-supported branded content.

As Netflix’s EMEA content chief, Kelly spearheaded the company’s groundbreaking push into international markets and local-language originals, driving a 50% surge in non-English viewership in the U.S. alone between 2017 and 2021. She later led Global Franchises, becoming the guiding force behind the global phenomenon The Witcher, propelling it into one of the top 10 most-watched shows globally.

Kelly commissioned hit series across six continents, including Dark (Germany), Lupin (France), Suburra (Italy), Kingdom (South Korea), Sacred Games (India), The Rain (Denmark), The Protector (Turkey), Elite (Spain), Unorthodox (Germany), La Casa de las Flores (Mexico), 3% (Brazil), Cable Girls (Spain), and Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father (United Kingdom).

Prior to Netflix, Kelly built her reputation at ABC, developing acclaimed shows like The Goldbergs, The Middle and Fresh Off the Boat. At Bravo, she won an Emmy award for her work on Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.

Kelly has been honoured by Variety’s International Women’s Impact Report and AFI and has received an International Emmy nomination. A decade ago, she bet on international content before the industry believed in it. With Shorties Studios, she’s making that bet again—this time on the small screen in your pocket.
