Directed over 50 documentaries and commissioned films, including NHK productions in collaboration with PBS, WGBH, ZDF Studios, and Spiegel TV. As a lead member of the international co-production team at NHK Enterprises, he also serves as a producer, developing collaborative projects with partners in France, Singapore, China, and beyond. His signature work, The Floating World, introduced a new method of visualising history through animated Japanese artwork, exploring Tokyo’s sustainable lifestyle in the 19th century. The film was screened at COP27, the UN General Assembly, and international film festivals, including Hot Docs 2023. His filmography ranges from a Ukrainian refugee in Japan to the indigenous Ainu culture and the philosophy of Zen Buddhism—unveiling unique facets of Japan for global audiences.
