Eleonora “Tinny” Andreatta is Vice President for Italian content at Netflix and leads the team in charge of its development.
When entering the new role at Netflix, she brought a strategy for Italian content that span between a wide range of genres and formats: from series to films, documentaries and non-fiction. Her aim is to show the true Italy to the world, reflecting its culture, roots, and the endless reserves of an imagination so rich in history.
The aim is also to build a challenging storytelling, one that gives space to the imagination, that destroys cultural taboos and tries to overcome them, that tells all that has not been told yet: authentic, ambitious and unique stories that tell the other side of Italy, the one that has been removed or forgotten. Series such as La legge di Lidia Poët, Inganno or Supersex are definitely along these lines.
The intention is to achieve, together with Italian talents and producers, a creative excellence that can satisfy the variety of tastes of Netflix subscribers and that can be divided by every genre and type of content, from documentaries such as Il Caso Yara: Oltre ogni ragionevole dubbio; films like Il Fabbricante di Lacrime and Il Treno dei Bambini that is coming soon on the platform; unscripted products such as Nuova Scena: Rhythm + Flow Italia; and also adult animation with Zerocalcare.
Before joining Netflix, Tinny Andreatta worked for 25 years at Rai, where she held a series of leading roles – including Head of Cinema and Fiction Programming for Rai 1 and then Head of Co-Productions and TV Series for Rai Fiction – before being appointed, in September 2012, as Director of Rai Fiction, the department responsible for producing and co-producing 500 hours of TV series, miniseries and TV movies for the three cable channels and the RaiPlay Platform.
Andreatta has innovated Italian prime-time television on Rai 1 (Doc, Blanca, I Bastardi di Pizzofalcone, Imma Tataranni, La mafia uccide solo d’estate, il Commissario Maltese) as well as on other networks (La porta rossa, Il Cacciatore, Rocco Schiavone, Mare Fuori, La linea verticale). All these series were also sold internationally. Her leadership is associated with major international co-productions designed for the global market such as Medici, L’Amica Geniale (My Brilliant Friend), Il Nome della Rosa (The Name of the Rose), Leonardo.
In 2018, together with France Television and ZDF, she created the Alliance, an agreement between the three main continental European public broadcasters to produce high quality products.
