Andrew Plotkin serves as EVP and head of Drama Development at Sony Pictures Television. He oversees all drama projects in development and production. His current projects include the previously announced The God of the Woods for Netflix, based on the bestselling novel by Liz Moore and starring Academy Award-nominated actress Kerry Condon and Maya Hawke; American Hostage, starring Emmy Award winner Jon Hamm; Alex Cary’s upcoming project for Apple TV starring Dakota Fanning and Academy Award nominee Stellan Skarsgård; Clue for Peacock; and Ghostman, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Plotkin was an integral part of the team in helping secure overall deals with Mauricio Katz and Pedro Peirano, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s House Eleven10 Productions, Jason Ning, Liz Hannah, and Curtis Gwinn.

Among the critically acclaimed scripted series Plotkin has helped bring to the screens are The Last of Us, which has been nominated for 41 Emmy Awards across its first two seasons; Apple TV’s Pluribus, from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, which received 18 Emmy Awards;
nominations following its release last year; The Boys, whose fifth and final season recently premiered on Amazon Prime; For All Mankind, which became Apple TV’s first franchise with the launch of its new spin-off Star City; and Dark Matter, which debuted as the No. 1 series in 75 countries, including the U.S., during its premiere week and has its second season premiering this August.

Under Plotkin’s leadership, the team has developed a strong lineup of titles, including Peacock’s Long Bright River starring Emmy Award-winner Amanda Seyfried; FOX’s Doc, which was the network’s #1 drama of 2025 and was renewed for a third season; Prime Video’s Spider-Noir, starring Academy Award-winner Nicolas Cage; Prime Video’s God of War with acclaimed producer Ronald D. Moore; and The Boys prequel series Vought Rising on Prime Video.

Plotkin has excelled as a multifaceted executive and hands-on producer in the entertainment industry. Before joining Sony Pictures Television, he started the independent production company All In Media and successfully sold series orders with Slingshot, Zoetrope, Fox21 Television Studios, IM Global, and Black Pill Digital.

Prior to starting his production company, Plotkin was EVP of Television at New Regency Productions, where his primary focus was on one-hour scripted programming for cable, broadcast, and streaming networks. In addition to original ideas and IP adaptation, he developed and sold numerous Regency film titles, including Man On Fire starring Denzel Washington, Marley & Me starring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, James Elroy’s LA Confidential, and Tigerland.

Previously, Plotkin spent three years at Syfy as Senior Vice President of Original Programming, where he spearheaded the launch and development of series such as Haven, Being Human, Alphas, and Defiance. He also helped lead Warner Bros Television to an unprecedented five years as the number one supplier of shows to all major broadcast and cable networks and developed and launched several hit shows, including Smallville, Without A Trace, Cold Case, Veronica Mars, and Nip/Tuck.

Plotkin next co-founded Warner Bros. Studio-based venture Class IV Productions, an independent production company, and from 2004 to 2008, executive produced four drama pilots and three series, including the critically acclaimed Reunion for FBC, Related for The WB, and CBS’s Dr. Vegas, starring Rob Lowe.

Plotkin started his television career at Rysher Entertainment, an independently financed studio specialising in content for both the domestic and international markets. Shows developed include the HBO series OZ; CBS’s Nash Bridges, starring Don Johnson; and Jerry Bruckheimer’s Soldier of Fortune, as well as numerous reality programmes. Plotkin received his bachelor’s degree in English literature and creative writing from the University of California, Davis.
