Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) has announced the Italian launch of Pop, their first free-to-air channel in our country. It will be on air starting from May 4 and will replace Neko TV, which has been acquired by Television Broadcasting System. Pop has already been present since 2003 in the United Kingdom, where it has become the first entertainment channel for kids aged six to nine.

The Executive Vice President of Western Europe International Network division of SPTN, Kate Marsh said: “It is the beginning of a new era for Sony activities in Europe. We are very thrilled to launch Pop, which is already a big hit in other countries”.

Furthermore, SPTN has announced a partnership agreement with Viacom International Media Network Pubblicità and Brand Solutions on advertising sales for new free-to-air channels in Italy, and with Persidera for DTT capacity. Among the main titles that will be broadcast by Pop we find The Deep, The Insectibles and Power Ranger Ninja Steel. The channel has also started a collaboration with Maga Animation for the making of short animation series.
