The Arabic SVoD market, according to the British company Digital TV Research, will experience tremendous growth over the next six years as it reaches 28 million subscribers, up from 15 million in 2023.

By 2029 there will be 28 million SVOD subscriptions in 13 Arabic countries market, up from 15 million in 2023. Netflix will continue to lead the market, but local operators will pose a strong challenge. Simon Murray, principal analyst at Digital TV Research, said.

According to analysts, Netflix will continue to lead the market in the 13 Arabic target countries, although local operators are increasingly fierce competitors, according to the Middle East & North Africa OTT TV & Video Forecasts report.

Simon Murray, analyst at Digital TV Research, comments on competition from Arabic operators, stating, “As some U.S.-based platforms reduce their commitments to global rollouts and local content, Middle-Eastern operators will thrive.”

Dubai-based streaming platforms StarzPlay, Shahid VIP and OSN+ will account for nearly half of the market by 2029, reaching 46 percent of total Arabic subscriptions.

In Digital TV Research’s analysis, global SVoD subscriptions are expected to increase by 400 million by 2028 to reach a total of 1.76 billion. In the forecast, Netflix leads the way with a total of 277 million customers.
