Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli appointed the new Commission of 15 experts appointed to select the projects that will access the selective contributions for the film and audiovisual sector. According to Article 26 of Law no. 220 of 14 November 2016 (“Disciplina del cinema e dell’audiovisivo”), the new Commission will assess applications for access to selective contributions and promotion for cinematographic and audiovisual works.
The term of office is two years, members can only be reappointed once and only two years after the termination of the last appointment.
The Commission is in turn divided into four sub-commissions: one for festivals, reviews, prizes, young authors, animation and national distribution of works; the second for film, TV and web screenplays and for the development of audiovisual culture; the third for pre-productions, first and second works and documentaries; the fourth for arthouse films, difficult works and those with modest financial resources.
Among the 15 experts appointed there are 6 women, 40%, and none of them were part of the previous Commission. The new Commission is composed of:
Valerio Caprara, author of numerous books and film critic for “Il Mattino”;
Tiziana Carpinteri and Giacomo Ciammaglichella, lawyers specialising in film law;
Benedetta Cicogna, film producer;
Pasqualino Damiani, university lecturer;
Selma Jean dell’Olio, film director and screenwriter;
Benedetta Fiorini, former MP;
Massimo Galimberti, story editor for film and television projects;
Giorgio Gandola and Mariarosa Cristina Beatrice Mancuso, journalists;
Pier Luigi Manieri, writer and cultural organiser;
Fabio Melelli, film historian;
Paolo Guido Carlo Mereghetti, film critic and author of the “Film Dictionary”;
Ginella Vocca, founder of the MedFilm Festival in Rome;
Stefano Zecchi, President of the International Academy of the Science of Beauty.
