The Locarno Film Festival’s Open Doors program has been announced. The initiative, this year will focus on supporting and highlighting African cinema.

For the next four years, in fact, the YETU (Un)Limited collective, with its co-founder and producer Yanis Gaye, will work to locally strengthen African cinemas, seeking to increasingly highlight the presence of African filmmakers on the international scene.

Industry professionals from 42 eligible African countries will be able to apply for three main programs: Open Doors Projects, Open Doors Producers and Open Doors Directors. Applications are open from November 28 to January 16, 2025.
The selection committee will consist of leading names such as director Fradique Bastos, Nigerian-American producer Melissa Adeyemo, and Burkinabé director Apolline Traoré.
