The third edition of Italians Doc It Better, the content showcase of Italian documentaries completed during the year but not yet distributed abroad, took place yesterday, October 14th 2022, during the fourth day of MIA.

Marco Spagnoli directed the MIA Doc & Factual responsible for the selection of the products presented. Each producer was given 5 minutes to show their work through a short trailer.

The official selection of the 12 titles presented to the audience of buyers, commissioning editors and the press included:

  • A.P. Giannini – Bank To The Future, by Valentina Signorelli and Cecilia Zoppelletto. The story of the incredible life of Amadeo Peter Giannini, the man who revolutionised the world of finance.
  • Beloved Shores (Working Title), by Egidio Eronico. A visual poem on Italy from its cultural and environmental heritage to its economic and industrial landscape.
  • The Boss’s Last Words, by Raffaele Brunetti. Antonio Mattone’s intriguing investigation into the murder of Giuseppe Salvia forty years after the event.
  • The Era Of Giants, by Lorenzo Conte and Davide Barletti. The most serious botanical pandemic of the century underway in Apulia as told through the eyes of Giuseppe during his return to his homeland.
  • Help Me To Do By Myself. The Montessori Idea, by Maurizio Sciarra. The story of the world-famous Montessori method.
  • In The Name Of Gerry Conlon, by Lorenzo Moscia. The testimony of Gerry Conlon, imprisoned for 15 years on an unjust charge for the IRA bombings in Guildford.
  • Kill Me If You Can, by Alex Infascelli,The intriguing story of the longest oceanic plane hijacking in history, and its perpetrator.
  • Lotta Continua, by Tony Saccucci. Inspired by the book ‘I ragazzi che volevano fare la rivoluzione’ (The boys who wanted to make the revolution) by Aldo Cazzullo, it depicts the birth of the revolutionary group born in Italy in the late 1960s.
  • Margherita. Voice Of The Stars, by Samuele Rossi. The documentary celebrating the centenary of Margherita Hack’s birth.
  • Sarura, by Nicola Zambelli. A story, that of the young Palestinians fighting with video cameras and non-violent actions against the Israeli military occupation, told with archive material from over 15 years.
  • La scelta di Maria, by Francesco Miccichè. The dramatic docu-film recounting the last attempt, before the advent of fascism, to pacify Italy under the figure of the unknown soldier.
  • A Summer With Joe, Liz & Richard, by Sergio Naitza. The story, 50 years later, of the survivors of ‘Boom!’, the film that bombed at the box

office despite its exceptional artistic team.The objective, as every year, is the internationalisation and launch of Italian documentaries for their foreign distribution.
