At the end of the year, Netflix reveals the results of its original shows in 2017 and it’s not wrong to say that the most viewed tv shows in Italy as in the rest of the world are all available on the streaming platform, if we don’t consider of course HBO’s Game of Thrones, Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale – the real big thing in 2017 – and Italian Gomorrah 3, which is the most viewed season of the show according to Sky. But, for million of clients in the world, Netflix keeps its position as the most reliable streaming platform and they know it well, as they shows in the peculiar classification of the most viewed show in 2017. Here the Italian list:

For the category Divoured, shows we have seen very, very fast, the first position is for the mockumentary American Vandal, ironic crime which follows the investigation of two high school boys on the case of a fellow schoolmate, unfairly accused of vandalism. Next, we find Ingobernable, Greenleaf, the Spanish Las Cicas del Cable, the horror The Fog, Fauda and Shooter. Suburra is at 9th position and at 10th we find Marvel’s The Defenders.

The following category is Savoured, shows we have watched slowly to make them enduring a little bit longer: firts position for The Crown, the Oscar-winning Peter Morgan’s saga on the British Royal Family. Next, we find Jack Whitehall: Travels with my Father, A Series of Unfortunate Events, adapted from young adults’ novels by Lemony Snicket, animated series Big Mouth, an irriverent coming-of-age which insists on the sexual discovery of the young characters, the comedy Disjointed with Kathy Bates, another animated series, Vampire Weekend’s frtontman Ezra Koenig’s creation Neo Yokio, drawned imitating the Japanese Anime’s style. In the latter poistions, we find comedy You, Me, Her, the western Frontier, Santa Clarita’s Diet starring Drew Barrymore and Wet Hot American Summer.

The “Cheating” category, those shows that made us cheat on our binge-watching companions, sees at its first place Narcos, now at its third season, and more great successe as Stranger Things 2, the 2017 most discussed show 13 Reasons Why, Black Mirror, Orange is the new Black, Breaking Bad’s spin-off Better Call Saul, Italian Suburra, Sense8, cancelled and the renewed for a two-hours finale thanks to the fans, El Chapo and Marvel’s The Defenders.

At last, for the “Binge-watching” category, first place is for Stranger Things, then again 13 Reasons Why, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Gilmore Girls: A Year in a Life, Star Trek:Discovery, docu-series Chef’s Table, animated series Trollhunters, Anna of the Green Gables and, eventually The Worst Witch.
