Netflix aims at the comic book world. After the deal with Marvel to produce a miniseries on the four superheroes called The Defenders, the streaming giant acquired Millar world yesterday, the publishing outfit founded by Mark Millar, who created Kick-Ass, Starlight and Superior, as well as Wanted and Civil War.
Moreover, Millar used to work for Marvel Entertainment, now controlled by Mickey Mouse’s company, for which he had developed stories which became successful movies such as The Avengers, Captain America and many others. This is the first acquisition for Netflix in twenty years of life, but it seems that others are coming, as claimed by the analysts who are considering the possibility that Netflix want to challenge Disney in the future. The streaming giant made an announcement on Twitter yesterday: “Dreams were how we got started”. Netflix’s chief content officer Ted Sarandos stated that: “these dreams will become movies, TV series and programmes for adults and children soon”.
