A new series is on the way for next year, adapted from Stephen King novel Mr Mercedes. The TV series will have ten episodes and leading actors are Brendan Gleeson (known as the scary one-eyed Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter saga) and Harry Treadway (the mad scientist VIctor Frankenstein in Penny Dreadful). The script was written by David Edward Kelley, known for his work on Ally McBeal and for the short series Big Little Lies released in America by HBO and in Italy by Sky Atlantic. The first book of a trilogy (published in Italy by Sperling & Kupfer), Mr Mercedes represents for Stephen King a stylistic turning point, with his coarse and dark settings that are typical of the hard boiled genre. The story is based on a retired detective who goes after a serial killer, named Mr Mercedes by media, because of the car where he committed his first assassination. The prolific American novelist twitted his appreciation for the series based on his book and warned his fans to pay attention since he will appear on the screen with a small cameo.
