The Italian film industry gathers to relaunch cinema in the summer and beyond. This is how Moviement was born, the initiative to which all branches of the sector, from producers to operators, have adhered.

The first mission of the Moviement project is to create the summer market from 2019 with a three-year plan that aligns Italy with the rest of the world with the theatres active 12 months a year. “Cinema and audiovisual – explained the President of Anica, Francesco Rutelli – are facing the greatest change ever. The Moviement project, wanted in a strong and unitary way by all the protagonists of our Cinema and supported with determination and conviction by Undersecretary Borgonzoni on behalf of the Government, can and must represent the turning point to live the Cinema and make the cinemas live 12 months a year”.

“The schedule for summer 2019 – declared Luigi Lonigro, President of Anica’s Distributors – is the most important of all times and will see the great blockbusters finally coming out with the main European territories, flanked by film by great Italian and international authors”. The better distribution of the releases in cinemas allows the programming calendars to be less inundated during the peak periods of the year. In this way, all films can have a longer stay in theatres, giving viewers more chance to see them.

The commitment to the initiative also involves producers, as confirmed by Francesca Cima, President of Produttori Anica: “At a time of great transformation, we producers believe in cinema as an expression of growth for all audiovisual production, and in the cinema as a place of collective vision, training and social and urban growth”.

In support of Moviement also the institutions, represented by Lucia Borgonzoni, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, who underlined the “role of impulse and coordination (of MiBAC) with a long breath and with a view to a structural relaunch of consumption in the cinema”. Moviement also counts on the support of David di Donatello, together with that of various talents who will be available to promote the project.
