MipTV Cannes 2017 has closed and it is time to take stock of what has been done in Italy. On April 5 Mattia Oddone, international sales director for Rai Com had already said he was “satisfied with the results. They are better compared to the previous years”.

Rai Com closed an important deal with Castalia Communication, that will distribute in Latin America cinemas All’Opera, a collection of the best of Italian ballet and opera. Furthermore, Rai Com will continue to focus on top seller works such as Il Commissario Montalbano. The results for Luisa Spagnoli and Il Paradiso delle Signore are also good, they were both sold in many countries. A great interest was shown for I Bastardi di Pizzofalcone, for which American producers would be ready for a possible remake.

Mediaset had positive results too: the group was present at Mip with a game-show format inspired from the film Perfetti Sconosciuti, whose title is The Phone Secrets, and which aroused interest from Spain, Russia and Germany. Manuela Caputi, sales director, commented:” our results are in line with those of the previous years: the series L’Onore e il Rispetto and Solo went very well, especially in Eastern Europe, Russia and Latin America”. Also Rainbow of Iginio Straffi closed good deals. After presenting the new animation serial 44 Gatti, developed in collaboration with the Antoniano, the group has closed deals with France, Russia and Brazil for the series Maggie & Bianca Fashion Friends, and with Netflix as VOD partner in the USA, Canada and Australia. Marketing Director Lorena Vaccari underlined a growing interest of Turkey in this animation product.
